My soldier is not at Camp Al Asad or Camp Taji/Cooke. Can soldiers at other bases participate in the videoconferencing?
Unfortunately, no. For the safety of our soldiers, they need to be at one of the above camps.
Why don't you videoconference with other camps in Iraq?
Our partner, Freedom Calls, hosts videoconferencing equipment at only these two camps.
We have a big family - how many people can participate in the videoconferencing sessions?
Most sites can accommodate large groups. If there is a problem with the group size, you will be notified of that issue when your scheduled date and time are confirmed via email.
Are these facilities accessible for individuals with disabilities?
Yes, all sites are ADA compliant.
I requested a session on one date, but I've been given a session on another date. Why?
Videoconferencing sessions must be scheduled to accommodate the soldiers' duties. Sometimes the family's preferred day or time is not possible for the soldier.
How long will I get to videoconference?
Each family group will have a 30 minute private session with their soldier. However, when you register and answer "yes" to allowing media, you may be selected to have media join your session for an extra half hour.
I have more questions! Who can I contact?
Send email to SeeYourSoldier@extension.uiuc.edu if you have other questions or need assistance with registering.
Who started See Your Soldier in Illinois?
